Management Profiles

Craig Fletcher BEng (Hons) MSTA

Founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board

Craig Fletcher graduated with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering at Birmingham University in 1990 and moved straight into the field of design engineering, where he quickly specialised in internal combustion engine design (1994) . From there he has worked on several automotive projects for the likes of Lotus, Volvo, VW and BMW. His remarkable drive and innovative thinking soon led on to a succession of prosperous ventures. Craig quickly moved into project management and became a project engineer for BMW, with the development of the ground breaking BMW common rail diesel engines. He then expanded the work for BMW to the supply of design engineers and external design services. True to his entrepreneurial spirit, Craig soon opened his own design facility in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The business grew to over 20 employees and was eventually sold to a larger concern. During this period, Craig also set up, ran and subsequently sold an IOM finance business which exceeded £5m pa turnover. Moving back to the UK, Craig founded Cubewano in 2007 after much personal design, development and conceptual work. Craig is currently finishing studies for the Executive MBA at Aston University and remains head of strategic planning in the company.

Tim Shires

Design Manager

Tim Shires, a principle engineer with a head for materials, currently leads the core engine design team and is responsible for materials selection. After completing an Aeronautical Higher National Diploma and a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tim spent 3 years working as a Design Engineer for major car manufacturers Nissan and Ford. His attention to detail and interest in detailed design led him to move to small scale specialist, Melling Consultancy Design, which specializes in base engine and transmission design consultancy, as well as proprietary design and manufacture. Tim Project Managed a 'turnkey' program of design, manufacture and testing of a high performance road and track engine program for a specific application whilst at MCD. Next up, at Jaguar Cars, Tim worked on a number of Base Engine Design aspects of six and eight cylinder engines including the Aston Martin Vantage for 5 years. Joining the Cubewano team in late 2007, already with 3 years rotary engine design experience under his belt, Tim quickly became the Design Office authority on all aspects of the core engine design.

Shaun Addy

Development Manager

Shaun Addy is an experienced engine designer and builder of the highest pedigree. Shaun is chief development engineer at Cubewano, as the authority not only for design but also engine build, testing and development. Shaun has a wealth of experience based on over 26 years building, testing and designing high performance internal combustion engines. He began his professional career building race engines for Neil Brown Engineering, including world dominating F2000, F3, Touring Cars and F3000 (DFV). He then moved to Lotus, where he stayed for 10 years, initially building and testing engines including Corvette LT5, Lotus Carlton and Lotus GT race engines, further honing his skills by qualifying with a BTEC engineering diploma and moving in to the engine design department. In 1997, he moved to BMW in Austria where, for 7 years, he was a key member in the concept, design and development of the latest common rail 4 & 6 cylinder diesel engines. Again showing his innovative spirit, Shaun quickly developed a reputation for thinking outside the box - evidenced by the numerous patents in his name whilst at BMW. He spent several years working for other prestigious companies around Europe before leaving to help start the development work which led to Cubewano's innovative heavy fuel starting system, where he remains the creative mentor today.
